Indian Navy Officer Saves Life Of A Drowning Man, People Can’t Stop Hailing His Courageous Act

Indian Armed Forces are respected by the nation as they guard our borders. But they also often go out of their ways to help the common man, which makes us love them more. In one such act of kindness and courage, an Indian Navy officer saved the life of a man drowning in the Kochi Channel near Vypin Beach.

Lt Rahul Dalal, navigating officer, INS Sutlej, was enjoying the evening with his wife at Vypin beach near the lighthouse on Friday. He noticed a man struggling in the water, crying out loud for help. A crowd had gathered alongside the beach looking at the drowning man but none of them were able to help him.

Without giving a second thought, Rahul immediately jumped into the sea to help the man. It just took a couple of minutes for him to reach him but could bring him out of the sea only after a struggle of 20-25 minutes because of the strong undertow, reported The New Indian Express.

“The officer also had to deal with the desperate and panicked victim who was pulling him down, putting both their lives in danger,” a Navy official said.

The officer calmed down the victim identified as Dileep Singh from Aurangabad and put all his strength to reach the shore with the man. With the help of some locals, Dalal cleared the mangroves roots stuck in the windpipe of the victim. He then performed Cardio Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Dileep until he revived.

He was taken to a nearby hospital and was discharged later on. People have been heaping praise on Rahul Dalal for his prompt and courageous act.
