Two Sons Are Looking For Their 68-Year-Old Dad Who Has Alzheimer’s. Help Us Find Him.

When the father takes his kids out on an outing, he holds their fingers tightly to make sure they don’t get lost in the crowd. Later, the roles reverse.

Mr. Inder Dutt is a 68-year-old man. He is an honest worker, a good husband and a loving father. A resident of Mayur Vihar Phase I in Delhi, he worked in Public Sector Undertaking for many years before he retired. After his retirement, he enjoyed a thorough life with his wife and sons Vaibhav Dutt and Apurv Dutt.

He faced an anaemia problem while growing up, those health issues and old age crept up and after his retirement he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. For those of you don’t know, Alzheimer’s disease is a neurological disorder in which the death of brain cells causes memory loss.

It starts mild but progressively gets worse. Mr Inder Dutt who was on his medication remembered everything just fine. Mostly.

 

On the evening of October 15th, he went out for a stroll. He and his wife were alone in the house then as both their sons were at work. He left the house around 9 pm and he usually comes back in 15-20 minutes. However, this evening he did not return.

His wife waited for him till 9.30 and then called her sons after she panicked. The sons came home and looked for him everywhere in the vicinity. They spent the nights searching streets, metro stations, slums, and night shelters in the Trilokpuri, Noida, Kalyanpuri and other nearby areas. Sadly, he was nowhere to be found.

 

On the morning of October 16th, they filed a missing person complaint in the Trilokpuri police station. They have put up posters all over the town and still they have no trace of him. The temple authorities yelled at them for putting up posters and chased them away.

 

Apurv Dutt, his younger son, told us that he had no money on him. He just had the clothes on his back and a ring on his finger. However, no jewellery store nearby reported the transaction of any such ring.

Vaibhav and Apurv, whose father has been missing for over a week now has tried all their might to look for their dad. He might not remember where he lives, he might not remember his sons, he might not even remember who he is. Because that’s what Alzheimer’s can do to you.

As a human, there is a lot we can do. Please look around for Mr Inder Dutt, if you find him anywhere, please give the family a call, they are going through a tough time and right now is the time we empathise for them and help them out in whatever way we can.
