Hyderabad Politician Exposes Cops Breaking Traffic Rules, It’s Time To #PracticeWhatYouPreach

Hyderabad-Traffic

Those of you who have been on the receiving ends of challans, slips, and warnings, would know the irritation of seeing a cop flouting the same rules and getting away with it. Sucks, right? As the old saying goes, one should always practice what they preach. But are our cops doing the same? Maybe they will start doing it now.

Amjed Ullah Khan, a Hyderabadi politician from Majlis Bachao Tehreekand and ex-corporator, started a social media campaign a week ago which has spread like wildfire on the web.

He has been posting several images of Telangana’s officers breaking traffic rules, and he’s been tagging Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police M Mahender Reddy, and Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on the micro-blogging site.

Not only that, now his movement has become a social campaign and people are sending him images on Twitter and Whatsapp with the time and location of the cop spotted.

Hashtags #PracticeWhatYouPreach, #PoliceWearHelmet, and #EvenWeCareForYouMrCop are added to the post and people are contributing the most to the social campaign.

This all started right after Hyderabad traffic police launched a 12-point penalty system for violating traffic rules, on August 1. Under the new system; for breaking traffic rules, points would be counted and upon crossing 12-points, the vehicle owner’s license will be cancelled.

Telangana has become the very first state to have such stringent and unique traffic law enforcement system.

This is a classic case of yellow journalism and yes, everyone should equally follow law, even the law enforcers.
