Blame it on the tarnished reputation or movies, in India, we look at our police with a healthy bit of suspision. Afterall, all of them are just after the bribe, aren’t they?
Well, apparently not.
Meet B. Gopal, who is currently posted at the Kukatpally Traffic Police Station in Hyderabad. His picture of feeling a homeless old woman with his hands is doing rounds on the internet.
According to The Hindu, the Hyderabad cop had been noticing the homeless old woman at a tea stall for three days. On learning about her life, he reached out to help her. Apparently, the woman was abandoned by, not one, but nine of her sons!
B. Gopal told The Hindu,
“I offered her a cup of tea and then bought lunch for her. But she was unable to even eat with her own hands, so I fed her.”
The photograph of the kind cop was shared by Harsha Bhargavi, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) to the Director General of Police, Telangana. This admirable gesture got him applauds from the Telangana Home Minister and Cyberabad Police Commissioner as well.
Twitter couldn’t help but clap hard at the selfless gesture.

The CPRO has tweeted that the old woman has now been shifted to an old age home and is doing better. But it’s still disheartening to see responsible adults abandoning their parents.
Kudos to B. Gopal for the selfless act of love. Needless to say, our society needs more people like you.
