Husband Thanks Hairdresser For Giving ‘Last Haircut’ To Late Wife, Calls It Her ‘Best Moment’

Isn’t it sad how we take little things for granted, not knowing that they might be our last? The mundane things that give us joy, like relishing an orange ice-cream stick on a hot day or having a meal with the entire family, are things we don’t even pay attention to, let alone realise how powerful they are.

I say this after reading a grieving man’s letter to his late wife’s hairdresser thanking her for making his wife feel pretty and special a few months before she passed away. A picture of the letter went viral on Reddit.

Addressing the hairdresser, Sara, the man writes how his wife suffered from dementia. However, when the couple visited the parlour, Sara did everything in her power to make the woman feel comfortable.

“You treated her as if you’d been working with dementia patients all your life. You let us sit next to each other and when it was time for her cut, you turned her chair towards me so I could watch her expression as you cut her hair,” the man writes.

He claimed how that haircut was the last and one of the “best moments” of her life.

“That haircut was one of the last, best moments of her life. She felt so pretty. She visited the mirror in her bathroom several times during the day and would come out beaming. To see her so happy was priceless.”

He then went on to highlight how “powerful” Sara’s profession is.

“It was likely of the dozens of haircuts you gave that day. But one which revitalised a woman’s sense of self and her singular beauty. I hope you always realise the power of your profession. It’s so easy to take things like that for granted.”
