Someone Reimagined ‘Harry Potter’ With A Complete African-American Cast & Shared Pics

I think if the ‘Harry Potter’ films were released in recent times, they would receive a lot of criticism for their lack of diversity among the cast. At the crux of it all, ‘Harry Potter’ is a very ‘white’ series. As far as I can remember, there were only four people of colour who were cast as supporting characters in the film. Some even had blink-and-miss appearances.

There was Kingsley Shacklebolt, who towards the end of the series became the Minister of Magic.

Then there was Dean Thomas, who was a fellow Gryffindor and a friend of Harry’s. He played as a ‘Chaser’ in their Quidditch team for some time.

There was Lee Jordan, who was the commentator for Quidditch.

And finally, Angelina Johnson, the Gryffindor Quidditch captain in Harry’s 5th year.

In today’s age, when filmmakers are making sure to cast a diverse set of actors, Harry Potter’s lack of diversity is jarring. Hence, a user on Reddit u/h4lfd34f took to the subreddit r/midjourney to share pictures of Harry Potter characters, but if they were African-American. Have a look:

1. Harry Potter.

2. Ron Weasley.

3. Hermione Granger.

4. Hagrid.

5. Albus Dumbledore.

6. Professor McGonagall.

7. Neville Longbottom.

8. Severus Snape.

9. Sirius Black.

10. Lord Voldemort.

11. Draco Malfoy.
