In India, you will find that there are innumerable families who prefer government jobs over private jobs. With the kind of benefits and privileges that come with government jobs, most people think that it is the more secure and respectable option. However, one has to sit for competitive exams to be able to have a shot at these careers, be it civil services or a teaching job.
However, if you think about it, there are other competitive examinations that are equally as tough – like CAT and GRE. If one has to study management at a prestigious institute, they need to appear for CAT. If one has to go to the US and study engineering, they need to have an impressive GRE score.
But you will find that there’s a good chunk of people who, despite numerous failed attempts, keep trying to qualify for these entrance exams with the hope that the answer to a sorted life lies in acing these exams. But that is not always the case. Here’s a video wherein a guy says that he has been studying and appearing for competitive exams for 12 years. He started when he was 18 and now he is 30 years old.
The reason why he keeps doing so is because the starting salary at private jobs is often Rs 10,000 – Rs 12,000. Have a look at the video here:

Responding to this video, a guy named Arun shared how he spent three years trying to crack competitive exams like CAT and CFA but failed. However, in 2016, he took up a sales job that paid him Rs 12,000 and every year he switched jobs to grow his salary. In 2018, he was earning more than triple his initial salary – Rs 40,000. In 2021, he earned Rs 80,000 a month and currently, he is earning lakhs.
“The growth trajectory has made more grateful than ever, and I’m hustling more than before. Life happens outside entrance exams, you need to keep hustling. My advice to young people would be, don’t waste time giving just entrance exams. You need to put yourself out there,” he wrote.

Several people shared similar experiences of being unable to qualify competitive exams, starting from scratch, hustling hard, and eventually climbing up the corporate ladder to be able to earn an impressive salary and live a comfortable life. Have a look at some of the responses here:
I don’t feel any remorse for this guy because even after being a big failure he keeps on saying that – In private job you are only earning 10/15k per month. These gov exam jeets still see private job people as third class citizen. Actually its the gov exam which is brainwashing

Your’s is the kind of story that everyone should promote and get inspired by. Life is a hustle for most of us. A few are more gifted than most, or are born with stars aligned for greatness. They are outliers’, it’s Us, the sloggers’, the hustlers, who are the real heroes ‘.🙌🙏

Very glad that you shared. I love studying but I could never take a competitive exam. It made me feel like the world is going to end with the exam and I got anxiety. I am not sure if my life is great now but at least I know what I don’t want.
