In various parts of India, weddings are called off for the most bizarre reasons. Fights erupt over food items or because the groom asks for dowry last minute. But a recent wedding in Uttar Pradesh was called off for a reason you can never even guess!
According to Times Now, a guy from UP’s Sambhal district was to marry a woman from Rajpura. The groom had arrived and was seated at the mandap for a few pre-marital rituals. It was then that the guests arrived and broke into a dance to celebrate the wedding.
Amongst the many guests dancing was the bride’s mother, who without a care in the world was enjoying, but while smoking a cigarette. The sight of his would-be mother-in-law dancing while smoking left the groom flabbergasted.
He then paused the wedding rituals and called off the wedding, which led to a dispute between the two families. However, the wedding festivities were put to an end and the two families parted ways disappointed in one another.
But it has also been reported that after the intervention of the local panchayat, the two families found a common ground and the relationship was once again restored.
