The debate on whether magic exists or not has been a long-running one. While we do enjoy the occasional magic tricks or fantasy novels starring wizards and witches, only maybe a handful of us genuinely believe in all the hocus-pocus. Okay, so the power to make my dirty laundry disappear with a spell could just be a fragment of my imagination. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we completely rule out the existence of magic itself.
I mean, look around you. Nature in itself is the biggest magician. How many times have been in awe of the different tricks up nature’s sleeve?
Take this viral photograph for example. I’m sure most of us have seen this pic flying around from the last winter.
Here eyelashes are frickin frozen! She’s got icicles for lashes! Those are the most chilled out lashes ever! Okay, I’ll stop.
The girl in the picture is Anastasia Gruzdeva. As the winter made way for summer, this 25-year-old from Siberia had also found herself in the limelight of Insta-fame.
She has got over 51,000 followers on Instagram and rightfully so as her account is all kinds of aesthetic heaven.
Anyone else feel like quoting the ‘Rockstar’ dialogue? “Galat aur sahi ke paar… Ek maidaan hai…” Okay, I got a bit carried away.
Insta famous or not, Anastasia definitely has a special connection with nature. After her winter fame, a summer pic of hers is now going viral.
Yup, those are mosquitoes. On. Her. Face.
Speaking to the Siberian Times, Anastasia says:
“The picture was made in seconds. After taking it, I just jumped on the bicycle and rushed away. In fact, you do not feel them so much on your face. More sensitive are the legs, arms and back. So for a few seconds, I can endure this.”
Apparently, her hometown of Yakutsk sees the temperature dropping to around -60C during the winters and rising to 30C or higher during the summer. This heat is what brings on the insect fest.
I am torn. One part of me is loving the “one with nature” vibes of the photo and the other part wants to get malaria shots. Anastasia isn’t completely oblivious to the danger aspect of this though. “Mind you, I have a sudden thought: can they bite me to death?” she wonders. Well, the pic did gain over 10k likes in just 3 days, so maybe it was worth all the bites. Nope, I change my mind. Nothing is worth becoming a human buffet for a field full of mosquitoes.
