7.3 Magnitude Earthquake Triggers Tsunami In Japan. Our Prayers Are With Them.

People in Japan are freaking out and our prayers are with them. An earthquake, of 6.9 magnitude, hit northeastern region of Japan on Tuesday. It is the same region that was devastated by 2011 Tsunami. The Guardian‘s new report point out, another earthquake of 7.3 magnitude has hit the area and waves up to 1.4 meters have been recorded.

As soon as the earth started shaking, warnings were issued by the authorities to residents to seek higher grounds. Though it was lifted four hours later, the videos and pictures on Twitter have a different story to tell.

#PrayForJapan started trending and the videos posted on Twitter, show an eerily similar on-set and people are reminded of the 2011 ruination.

The Fukushima nuclear plant – Fukishima Dai-ichi plant, which was washed away five years ago, is reported to be working with abnormalities despite tsunami waves being detected in the area. The nearby Fukushima Dai-ni plant’s pump, that supplies cooling water to the plant, stopped working. A back-up pump has been put in place to keep the plant running.

Hope everyone’s safe!
