One of the things that made me completely fall in love with the TV series Panchayat is the honest portrayal of rural life. You realise how different their ‘reality’ is from us. People living in villages have different kinds of problems than those living in cities and their approach to life is a stark contradiction to ours.
I realized this when a Reddit user took to r/India to ask people who came from small towns or villages to big cities to share their experiences.
Indians who came from small town to big city for study/college/job, what thing you found completely unexpected? from india
From the way people in big cities dress to the kind of money they spend on clothes and eating out, a lot was revealed by those coming from small towns and villages.
Some realized how far they have to go to become successful.
There’s too much going on in big cities in contrast to the peace and quite of village life.
The fact that buses don’t stop for you if you wave your hand came as a shocker to some people.
But there were some upsides as well. Many said that they enjoy a lot of freedom in cities than they did back home.
People even got way more opportunities than they did in small towns.
When you hear stories like these, your perspective about life instantly changes. Doesn’t it?
