The North India versus South India debate is something that has been ongoing for years. Considering their culture, language, food and pretty much everything is different, it is given that there would be friction if a North Indian visits a South Indian state and vice-versa.
One guy took to Twitter to claim that while Bangalore is a beautiful city, its locals are “racist” towards North Indians or people who speak Hindi.
Bangalore is a beautiful city, but locals are really racist against North-Indians/Hindi speaking people 🙁

And several people online were not having it. Many people asked the guy to learn Kannada instead of expecting Kannadigas to speak Hindi.
Learn Kannada. Let go off the superiority complex. Don’t expect everyone to speak to you in Hindi & be arrogant about it. Post that, all will be well.

Karnataka ppl can speak Hindi, can you speak Kannada even after staying for 10yrs in blore? North Indians don’t have sense of belongingness to the place & tats the exact problem.

A few South Indians took to the comment section to claim that North Indians tend to not respect their culture and language, which is why there is friction.
We respecting you is directly proportional to you respecting our Language and Culture. You guys are forcing Hindi wherever you go. Stop your Hindi Chalta Hai Attitude and be one among us. Kannadigas are the most peaceful people you can ever get. Please shift to Chennai then.

Bangalore is a beautiful City.
Some Northies come with a “I’m a Princess” attitude and expect everyone to talk to them in Hindi.
Leave ur entitlement and be like a commoner.
While in Bengaluru, learn Kannada!

Bengaluru was made a beautiful city by Kannadigas and those who migrated their because it is beautiful and unwilling to learn and respect Kannadigas are welcome to move to their native place.

It is not about Hindi, it is about the attitude you come here with. You expect the locals to speak in Hindi, while you refuse to reciprocate the same. The locals are not racist, it is you guys who feel entitled.

On the other hand, several people from different states who are currently living in Bangalore testified otherwise. They claimed that Bangalore and its people are extremely welcoming and that they haven’t faced any discrimination at all.
Bengaluru has always been HOME for the ones who build life here, away from their own hometown. Locals here are tolerant and that’s why we see huge number of migrants never leaving from here.
Respect the land & people where you live in, they’ll return the same ✌️

I never felt this in Bangalore. They welcomed me when I went to do my post graduation studies there. People (my batchmates) were so good and helped me learn Kannada basics in the first year 😎 It’s a melting pot of all cultures and truly the best city of India to live in. 💕

Disagree
I am a Tamilian who spent a good time there. In fact I spoke hindi with most folks around from auto wallahs to shopkeepers and all have reciprocated very well.— Janani Sampath Veeravalli✍️ 🇮🇳 (@jananisampath) March 26, 2022
This is a lie. No other city is as welcoming as Bangalore. Living here since 20 yrs and never felt any discrimination. For being accepted in a city one has to accept it first.
— CandidShweta (@CandidShweta) March 26, 2022
What a mischievous comment. You are creating a divide by making such irresponsible, baseless statement.
Bengaluru rocks. Kannadigas are the most accommodating, polite people I’ve met in my life. Absolutely love everything about Bengaluru and locals. ❤️
— Abhinav Khare (@iabhinavKhare) March 26, 2022
Sorry you had that experience but this is one off case. I’ve been living in Bangalore for past 10 years. And it’s the most welcoming crowd , they celebrate diversity. They don’t care where you’re from, what you speak. It will take sometime, don’t let one off incident get to you.

People might have some unpleasant experiences. But then to make sweeping generalizations based on them is a little unfair, don’t you think?
