Recently, a Bengaluru-based woman made shocking allegations against a food delivery executive. She alleged that he assaulted her, punched her in the face which left her with a bleeding and a broken nose.
According to Times Now, the accused has been arrested. The food delivery company has announced that they have extended their full support to the woman and have taken the responsibility to provide the necessary medical care to her. A thorough investigation regarding the matter is also ongoing.
On the other hand, India Today reports that the delivery boy has opened up regarding the incident and has shared his side of the story. He has denied all allegations made against him and has alleged that the woman attacked him.
“After I reached her apartment door, I handed her the food and I was expecting her to pay me (as she had opted for cash on delivery mode of payment). She asked me ‘Why are you late?’ I apologised and said there was some civic work going on and also there was traffic congestion. But she kept on insisting that the order has to be delivered within 45-50 minutes. I am working on this job for more than two years and this is the first time that I have had to go through this kind of an ordeal.”
He went on to add that the woman called him a “slave” and did not cooperate with him.
“In the meantime, Zomato support told me that they have cancelled the order from their end based on her request and I asked her to return the food but she did not cooperate.”
The delivery executive further alleged that “she started using expletives in Hindi, threw slippers at him and started hitting him.” He added that while he was trying to protect himself, the woman “accidentally” hit herself with her own finger, which had a ring, and it caused her nose to bleed.
Taking cognizance of both sides of the story, the food delivery company said that they are making sure a due process is followed and that they are “covering his earnings in the interim.”
