The holiday season is upon us and several people are flying down to their hometowns to spend it with their friends and families. As a result, people are facing an inconvenience while booking air and train tickets. The prices of tickets have also sky-rocketed looking at the demand.
Moreover, places like railway stations and airports are currently seeing a huge footfall of passengers. The scene at Delhi airport is chaotic, to say the least.
Delhi | Passengers demand authorities to smoothen the process as long queues were seen at the Terminal 3 of the Delhi airport in the past few days
"I'm travelling to Coimbatore. There is a huge crowd here and many times due to this we miss flight," says Shyam Kalra, a passenger pic.twitter.com/2iacp5Iv9s

Extended waiting hours, long queues, and delays in check-in timings irked people. Many also filmed the situation on-ground and shared it on social media. Take a look:
Early morning at a Delhi fish market! At least a dozen scuffles have broken out in the last 20 mins. #DelhiAirport pic.twitter.com/tU6Oi3rBhx

Passenger lines outside terminals at #DelhiAirport can be greatly reduced by only checking tickets at the entrance. IDs are in any case checked at multiple other points. Those who’ve entered the terminal illegally, can be nabbed when they try to exit + random checks. @JM_Scindia pic.twitter.com/gfeOSA5YCS

Made it smoothly through Delhi Airport T1 to catch my flight in good time, but now at midnight outside Bengaluru Airport pick point which is quite a nightmare! Even though lot of staff to help, poor planning means 30 mins before your car can get to you @BLRAirport pic.twitter.com/etMfeUUswa

Wish we have more trains running at 180-240kmph in the next ten years. Would be happy to skip flights for any train travel that is less than 6-hours. #DelhiAirport

#DelhiAirport = Fish market. Scenes from this morning. We took the infant/toddler lane and reached the gate in 3.5hours. Took a flight after 3.5 years and I felt suffocated in flood of people. pic.twitter.com/ta931MF3IK

Reached the airport at 6am for an 8am flight. Just about made it!! Insane crowd. It’s like a Kumbh ka mela. Thought I’d find some lost sibling too.#T3 #delhiairport

Things went so out of hand that Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Steel Jyotiraditya M. Scindia had to visit the airport to oversee the situation.
Despite the Positive feedback #DigiYatra has been receiving, it is disappointing to see that only a handful of passengers at @DelhiAirport are taking advantage of this digital facility
Minister @JM_Scindia has been making constant appeals regarding expanding the use of DigiYatra pic.twitter.com/IrRU9B3cfZ

These days people are saying go 4 hours before your flight. So for an 8 am flight I should be at the airport at 4 am, meaning I should leave home me by 3 am or so? This is nuts. Delhi airport is a mess that a ministerial visit can’t solve. Just increase the CISF capacity pls https://t.co/xaMxyrRuk1

Some in the Delhi airport security queue are fretting because they are worried about missing their flights. Others because they are desperately holding on for the bathrooms on the other side. One is reading a book. I think he'll finish. There is a budding romance on too!

Looks like the minister’s visit bore fruits. The situation seems well under control.
Things improving at #DelhiAirport after @JM_Scindia visit or did I just get lucky? Entry to security cleared in 30 mins (no check in bag). Smooth queues and proactive staff moving people ahead. Far cry from T3 horror stories of last few days.

Delhi airport is now Hotel California. You can check in any time you like, but you can never leave!

Have you witnessed this chaotic situation recently? Also, what do you think is the major cause of this haphazard situation in Delhi airport?
