Deepika Padukone needs no introduction. Her acting prowess is undeniable. She is ranked 4th in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list of 2018. The fact that she’s the first woman in the top 5 says something, doesn’t it?
Her nuptials with Ranveer Singh had everyone glued to their social media accounts for pictures. But there’s something else she’d like for all of us to see. Specifically, those who are dealing with anxiety, clinical depression or any other mental illness. And that’s her handwritten letter to Elle India.
“To anyone who sees darkness, I would like to say that you are not alone and that help is always available.”
Here is the entire letter
According to the Live Love Laugh Foundation founded by her, India has only 3,500 trained psychiatrists. This acute shortage coupled with the unawareness and shame attached to mental illnesses has exacerbated the situation. Some don’t even realise that excessive stress is an illness. Some don’t know where to find a psychologist.
Let’s change that. Together.

#TogetherAgainstDepression
There many more in today's generation. Problem is no one to hear them.
Dear Ppl, If you find someone please hear them. Tell them everything will be fine.
Help them to fight the battle against depression.#MentalHealthAwareness @deepikapadukone https://t.co/ImytPuhfgU— Pranjal Jani (@pranjal_97) December 21, 2018
