Bhopal Cop Asks For Leave Citing Wife’s Anger As Excuse, Gets Into Trouble

Admit it, we have all cited stupid reasons while asking for leave. From school to college to finally at our workplace, we often give excuses like sar dard and kamar dard for not showing up! However, this may invite trouble if you do it too often.

Like one traffic constable in Bhopal, who already took 55 leaves in the past 11 months and asked for 5 more to allegedly attend his brother-in-law’s wedding. What made things worse is that in the letter asking for leave, he cited his angry wife as an excuse, reports News18.

In a little post-script below the letter, he wrote, “Prarthi ke patni ka spasht kehna hai ki agar bhai ki shaadi mei nahi aaye toh parinaam achha nahi hoga.” (The wife of the applicant has made it clear that if he (applicant) did not attend the wedding of her brother, the outcome will not be good.)

Speaking to The Week, ASP Sandeep Kumar Dixit revealed that the cop is now in trouble. Not only is his habit of asking for excess leaves troublesome but the post-script in the letter actually goes against the service regulations.

“Cops are given leaves whenever necessary, but this was a discipline matter,” Dixit said,

The constable has now been sent to the police lines as punishment.

Punishment is what you get if you try to misuse your privileges!
