Bengaluru RTO Seized Brand New Bike And Tells Owner It’s Stolen After He Clears All Taxes

Bangalore RTO and BMTC showed new levels of irresponsibility after they ended up ‘losing’ a brand new bike.

An employee named Ashok who works for an insurance company lost his brand new bike after it was seized by RTO officials, as it was not registered.

A case of extra tax evasion was filed on him, and the bike was parked in the BMTC depot, and this is where the twist of events happened.

After clearing the dues, when Ashok asked RTO officials to hand him his bike over, they said  it had been stolen. They shrugged off the responsibility by saying the bike had been parked in the BMTC depot. The worst part? Even the BMTC shirked off all responsibility when asked about the bike.

Ashok said, “The bike was seized for not being registered and thus evading tax. After the seizure of the bike, I have cleared all my dues. But till date, I have not received my vehicle. I paid Rs 90,000 for the new bike and did not even complete 1,000 kilometres on it. When I enquired with RTO and BMTC officials, they blame each other. They even advised me not to register a complaint and assured to resolve the issue. I do not know when that will happen.”

Ashok has been running from one office to the other since October without any help from either, and said it was a very painful experience for him.

He added, ” I have already paid the EMI for three months and I have to continue paying up in the coming months too. I feel I am spending my hard-earned money for others’ irresponsibility.”

When Jayanagar RTO Shobha, was asked about the incident, she said she wasn’t very sure of the parking terms with BMTC. ‘Wasn’t Very Sure.’ Wow.

She said, “I have brought the issue to the notice of our joint commissioner. The agreement on providing space for parking was done at the level of the commissioner and managing director of BMTC. I do not know much about the terms and conditions. As we have already written a letter to the higher-ups, we are waiting for directions from them.

Another RTO stated that their agreement with the BMTc was only for providing parking space to the seized vehicle, and not protect it.

And between both RTO and BMTC playing the blame game, who’s getting the worst of it? Obviously, the bike owner Ashok.

Good job at screwing up RTO and BMTC.
