Odisha School Mistakenly Mourned The ‘Death’ Of A Very Much Alive Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Remember the time when Jharkhand Education minister paid floral tribute to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam when he was alive and drew flak? Well, this time it’s our much revered former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

In Balasore district of Odisha, the headmaster of a primary school proclaimed that Atal Bihari Vajpayee is dead. Consequently, the teachers and the students mourned his death.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been ill for past few years.

Another blooper?

Yes. Kamalakanta Das, the headmaster learned about this erroneous news from a fellow teacher while attending a teachers’ training programme.

Result?

The school was shut down and the students and teachers ended up mourning for his death. A memorial meeting was also held.

This ended up irking locals

The locals after learning about this incident ended up in a fit of pique. Their agitation led them to report this incident to the District Collector.

After that, the Collector Sanatan Mallik said, “He [Das] will be placed under suspension and if required criminal proceedings will also be initiated against the headmaster.”

This is again a major blooper. The headmaster should have at least bothered to cross check the news instead of taking such ad hoc measures. May he recover fast and live long.
