Arnab To Get ‘Y’ Security After Facing Threats From From Pak-Based Terrorist Groups

Arnab Goswami is known to be the ‘Voice of the Nation’ who asks questions whose answers not only the country, but the whole world wants to know. His outspoken demeanor which doesn’t cater to political positions or dangerous people is extremely admirable but has got him into some trouble.

Arnab Goswami, the popular lead anchor at Times Now is going to be provided ‘Y’ category security by the government as he faces threats from Pakistan-based terrorist groups. These threats seem to have their roots in something he said on his debate show.

Arnab will get round-the-clock protection from around 20 guards, including two personal security officers for close proximity security. These arrangements are generally offered in case of threat-based situations.

There are at least four different types of securities provided by the government – ‘Z Plus’ (around 40 guards with two escort vehicles), ‘Z’ (around 30 guards with one escort vehicle), ‘Y’ (around 20 guards) and ‘X’ (four guards).

A Home Ministry official said,

“Goswami is being given security on the basis of a threat-perception analysis by the IB. We will go by the IB recommendation. He faces threats from Pakistan-based terrorist groups due to his comments against them on Times Now.”

Although he isn’t the first reporter to get security like this, the threats matter as much.
