A huge price of being a celebrity anywhere is to constantly put up with paparazzi whose shutterbugs are always looking to get a glimpse of them. Most times, it’s the who and where of our favourite celebrities. But other times, it’s sickening details of their private lives and looks that are sensationalised for pure entertainment.
We had already established the fact that Indian journalism had hit a new all-time low with the way they covered the news of Bollywood Diva Sridevi’s death. Ever since the sudden demise, all eyes have been glued to Arjun Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor.
Bollywood Tadka, an online news portal, did a story on a sick observation of Janhvi Kapoor’s dress as she visited Arjun Kapoor’s house.
A little of her bra-strap was visible on the back and apparently, according to the portal, it made the dress ‘sexy’.
The caption, translated from Hindi, reads:
“Janhvi Kapoor reached Arjun Kapoor’s house wearing such a sexy dress that everything was visible. See pics.”
Outraged with such sick voyeuristic media, Arjun Kapoor, being the responsible brother that he is, lashed out at the channel on Twitter.

On one hand, we have the kind of media that is striving to stop sexualising and objectifying women. On the other hand, disgusting reporting like this one is doing the exact opposite.
Had Janhvi not been a celebrity, would anyone have cared that she wore a dress that showed a little bit of bra-strap? WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL IF IT WAS SHOWING ANYWAY?
Twitter has risen to support Arjun and question the media’s insensitive, perverted and voyeuristic reporting.

Although Arjun Kapoor was known to have issues with Sridevi and they were simply on cordial terms due to Boney Kapoor, he stepped up to his role of a responsible elder brother to both Janhvi and Khushi after the sad and shocking tragedy that struck the family.
We stand by Arjun in this lash-out and hope the media grows a heart before using such sick observations to sensationalise trivial news.
