According to TOI, the Anti-Extortion Cell busted the racket on May 15, and arrested several people including a bookie named Sonu Jalan alias Sonu Malad. Further investigation revealed that Jalan was the alleged ‘kingpin’ of the racket.
During questioning, Jalan spilled the beans on his association with Arbaaz Khan, and said that they’ve known each other for over five years. Jalan also mentioned several other prominent names in his statement, including a Pakistani politician.
Today, when Arbaaz Khan was made to sit face-to-face with Jalan, he admitted to placing bets in IPL matches last year and had losing Rs 2.75 crore in the process.

The actor-producer was called in to record his statement before the AEC of the Thane crime branch, where he accepted his involvement with Jalan, who is believed to be one of the top bookies in the country.
The police have managed to corroborate Jalan’s claims with the handwritten notes found in his personal diary. Subsequently, a line holding machine that Jalan used has also been confiscated by the police.
