12 Animated Movies Of 2017 That We’re Eagerly Waiting For

Judge me however you want, but I think animated movies are far better than the live-action scripted ones, anyday. Each year-end, I make a watchlist for the next year.

While 2016 was filled with Animated Bonanzas like Kung Fu Panda 3, Kubo And The Two Strings, Finding Dory, Secret Life of Pets, Zootopia, Storks, The Angry Birds Movie, Moana, Ice Age: Collision Course and lot more, what does 2017 have in store? Let’s find out.

1. The Lego Batman Movie

Release date: February 10, 2017 (USA)

Black and yellow, black and yellow. Will Arnett as Batman is here to drop the mic and raise the orphan he adopted, Robin. And of course, save the Gotham City. It also features Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Ralph Fiennes, Mariah Carey, Jenny Slate, Rosario Dawson and others.

 

2. The Boss Baby

It is time to meet the Boss who is a Baby. Yep, Alec Baldwin is the sassy, smart undercover boss baby. He means business. And, what is it? We shall find out next March.

 

3. Despicable Me 3

Gru and his uber-adorable minions will meet Dru (Gru’s lost twin brother). There are two of them. Guess what? Steve Carell will be voicing them both. The dates are tentative and there’s no official teaser out yet.

 

4. Cars 3

Brian Fee’s third animated installment in the Cars series will show how Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. But you know him. He will get back into the game.

 

5. The Lego Ninjago Movie

Release date: September 22, 2017 (USA)

Much like the Lego Batman, it is a spin-off and sounds super-cool to me. The six teenage ninjas fight crime by the night and go back to their normal lives by the day. The voice stars include Dave Franco, Michael Peña, Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Woods, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Justin Theroux and Jackie Chan.

 

6. The Nut Job 2

Release date: May 19, 2017 (USA)

Sequel to the 2014 The Nut Job, the second one will see Surly (Will Arnett) and the other park animals coming together to save the park being bulldozded over. The new mayor is crooked and wants to build a dangerous amusement park. But Surly surely wouldn’t let that happen, would he?

 

7. Smurfs: The Lost Village

Release date: April 7, 2017 (USA)

Smurfette (Demi Lovato) is on her journey to find her purpose in the village, and encounters a creature in the Forbidden Forest. Her purpose becomes finding the the Lost Village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. Directed by Kelly Asbury, it also has voice stars Mandy Patinkin, Jack McBrayer, Danny Pudi, Joe Manganiello and Rainn Wilson.

 

8. Spark

Release date: April 14, 2017 (USA)

Spark, a monkey and his friends – a fox and warthog- embark on a journey to take back their planet – Planet Bana. But on his journey to fight General Zhong, Spark discovers his new identity. The film featured at the Toronto Animation Arts Festival International in April 2016, and is scheduled to release next year.

 

9. Coco

From the house of Pixar, comes this original film about a boy named Miguel and how he deciphers a century-old mystery that leads to an extraordinary family reunion. Directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, the film is based on an original story by Unkrich. Earlier it was titled, Dia de los Muertos.

 

10. Emojimovie: Express Yourself

We use emojis to express ourselves, but have you ever thought how the emojis express themselves? Gene, is a multi-expressive emoji and wants to blend into the normal emoji-sphere. But will he blend or will he stand out? T.J Miller will be playing Gene and James Corden and Ilana Glazer would be voicing Hi-five and Jailbreak, respectively.

 

11. Blazing Samurai

Hank the dog wishes to be a samurai so that he can save the town “Kakamucho” from the being destroyed by feline warlord Ika Chu. Michael Cera, Samuel L. Jackson, Michelle Yeoh, Ricky Gervais, Mel Brooks, and George Takei will lend their voices to the stars.

 

12. Animal Crackers

Well, the Huntingtons inherit a rundown circus and a mystical box of Animal Crackers. You eat one animal and change into them. Sounds fun right? Wait till you see the cast-list- John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Raven-Symoné, Ian McKellen, Sylvester Stallone, Danny DeVito, Patrick Warburton, and Wallace Shawn.
