Andhra MLA Spent 2 Nights In Crematorium To Dispel Fear Of Ghosts From Workers’ Minds

Don’t they always say, “Great leaders lead by example”? Dr Nimmala Rama Naidu, an Andhra MLA of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), decided to do exactly that, earning him praise from all quarters, including the Chief Minister of Kerala!

Nimmala Rama Naidu of Palakole, Andhra Pradesh spent a couple of nights sleeping in a crematorium. Why? To prove to construction workers that there were no such things as ghosts!

The Hindu crematorium in Palakole had been in a dilapidated state for decades now. Eight months ago, the Government had sanctioned Rs. 3 Crore for its renovation. He told Hindustan Times,

“We wanted to completely modernise the place by developing a garden, constructing new platforms for cremating the bodies, bathrooms and providing other facilities. Unfortunately, no contractor was forthcoming to take up works, though we called tenders twice.”

When Naidu finally managed to find someone to take up the job, the discovery of a half-burned body on the grounds instilled the fear of ghosts in the workers’ minds.

That’s when Naidu came up with the idea to spend a few nights in the crematorium, so he could prove to the workers and the locals that there was nothing to be afraid of.

He even had dinner there, before going to bed!

The first night at the crematorium was not without its hardships.

“There were too many mosquitoes. And, of course, I had to bear with foul smell from the dumping yard. I am getting a mosquito net for the cot tonight.”

But ultimately, it was all worth it!

“I slept in the premises the whole night. And the trick worked. On Saturday, about 50 workers returned to work to resume the construction.”

As promised, Naidu was back the next night, armed with a mosquito net, and ready to prove his point!

That’s not all the first time MLA’s been doing at the unusual spot!

From showering to shaving to even his morning yoga, he decided to do it all right there!

He’s been having his dinners at the crematorium too, surrounded by his team.

And from the looks of it, this crematorium might just get the facelift it deserves!

Kudos to the MLA for finding such a quirky and bold solution to the superstitious problem! Like a proper Ghostbuster!
