AIADMK’s Hunger Strike Turns Into Laughing Stock As Pics Of Their Biryani Lunch Go Viral

In 1932, to protest against the British government’s decision of separating the electoral system of India by caste, Mahatma Gandhi went on a 6-day hunger strike while in jail. And later, in 2011, anti-corruption campaigner Anna Hazare pulled a similar stint for 12 days to introduce the Jan Lokpal Bill. So we Indians are no strangers to the concept of a hunger strike.

Anyone who declares a hunger strike basically goes without food for an extended period till their specified goal is achieved. That’s not so difficult to wrap our heads around right? But apparently, the party members of AIADMK did not get that memo.

Members of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party in Tamil Nadu, conducted a day-long hunger strike yesterday. They were demanding the formation of the Cauvery Water Management Board.

What was bizarre, however, was that they took a lunch break in the middle of their one day of hunger strike! Photos of the party members feasting have been making the rounds on the Internet.

It wasn’t just the men by the way.

Though many on Twitter have attempted to guess whether the spread is biryani or tomato rice, it has largely been inconclusive.
