Aayush Sharma Opens Up About Being A Product Of Nepotism & The Trolling His Wife Arpita Faces

Even though actor Aayush Sharma has been hustling in the Indian film industry, doing feature films and assisting directors in movies, a lot of us got to know about him after he married Salman Khan’s sister Arpita.

After their wedding, Aayush made his film debut with Salman Khan’s production ‘Loveyatri’ in 2018 which didn’t make an impact at the box office. Even though he doesn’t have a family background in films, his association with the Khans made him a victim of the nepotism debate in India.

Talking about it, the ‘Antim: The Final Truth’ actor, while delivering his TEDx speech at Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Technology in Pune, said, “While I was getting up from my first film ‘Loveyatri’, the digital community was introduced to a new word called ‘nepotism’.”

“I suddenly realized I was a by-product of nepotism. I spent hours on Google trying to understand what are the new charges levied against me.”

Accepting that his associations with the Khans proved beneficial for his acting debut, he said, “I can’t deny, my association with a movie star was a very integral part of my debut, I can’t do that, it’s the truth.”

“But, I’m not a star kid. I’m just in the wrong place at the wrong time, that’s what it is. I’m associated with a film family but I wasn’t born into a film family. In this situation, I’m neither an outsider who struggles, nor I’m an insider. I’m just in the middle of nowhere,” he concluded saying this is why he has an identity crisis.

In his speech, he also spoke about his wife Arpita being trolled for looking the way she does.

“She’s constantly trolled for being overweight. She’s a constant target that being a celebrity she should not be so fat so she should dress a certain way and she’s dark in colour. Every time a picture comes live people are quick to remind her that she’s dark in colour. This also comes to the terms that today, beauty is no longer internal. Nobody wants to know how beautiful you’re as a human being but people want to see you beautiful externally.”

But, he’s proud of who she is.

“I’m proud of my wife because she’s comfortable in her own skin. She’s proud of who she is and behind closed doors she tells me I’m not a celebrity, I’ve done nothing to be a celebrity and I’m never going to be in front of the camera so I’m going to live my life the way I’m going to live.”

Can’t believe people online still have time to call out others for their appearances. But, we’re glad that Arpita is not affected by all the negativity and knows her worth. Kudos!
