I remember how in 2021, when ‘Aashiqui 2’ released, the craze behind the movie was unmatched. It was a quintessential heartbreak movie with a beautiful album, songs that can still give goosebumps to its listeners. It was not only a box office hit and took Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor to new heights professionally, but is still watched by people when they need a good cry!
And now, ‘Aashiqui 3 has been announced with Kartik Aaryan playing the male lead. The film is to be directed by Anurag Basu and the music album will be composed by Pritam, reports Indian Express.
A lot of expectations are riding on this film. Anurag Basu is known to deliver heart-wrenching romances like Life In A Metro, Barfi, Gangster and his famous TV serial Love Story. These films also had some really romantic and memorable songs. And considering that Pritam is in charge of the music, it can be guaranteed that he’ll deliver nothing less than expected.

But several people online are having a hard time digesting that Kartik Aaryan will be playing the romantic hero for the film. Kartik works well in comedies, as we have seen in the past. When it comes to romance, especially ‘Aashiqui school of romance’, it is difficult to picture him as the heartbroken intense hero on his way to self-destruction – a trope which was brilliantly performed by Aditya Roy Kapoor in ‘Aashiqui 2’.
The film announcement left many fans unsettled who then started a debate on Twitter. Have a look:
