There’s no doubt about the fact that social media allows us to reach many people within seconds, no matter where they’re in the world. But there’s also the risk that the reality we’re being shown through a picture or a tweet is vastly different. And that aspect was proven to be true once again through the story of a couple who had claimed that they had gotten married, thanks to PM Narendra Modi.
Twitter user @TheJayDave recently posted a story about how he and a girl named Alpika Pandey had bonded and eventually got married due to their love for PM Narendra Modi. But, for reasons unknown, the post was deleted and re-posted.
oops! deleted by mistake while I was trying to delete something else pic.twitter.com/nFFNdc2OEh

It’s a mystery how someone can “accidentally” delete a viral tweet, but Dave insisted that it was a mistake.
There are misconcpetions in media and social media that accidental deletion of the viral tweet was due to the amount of trolling received.
Fact is just like Modiji, I m used to criticism and trolling, my commitment towards the nation is unaffected by what trolls.

However, after a tweet from Alpika herself, it became abundantly clear that Dave was just showing his half of the story. Because the other half, as claimed by Alpika, was pretty ugly.

Given the severity of the situation, netizens are up in arms and want authorities to take swift action. Here are some of the reactions:

Hope this @AlpikaPandey handle is not real – cuz just 4 days ago I wished u best of luck for your married life.
If real – then it just confirms u are a #ModiBhakt of the worst sort – an insecure violent bigot with scant respect for women. https://t.co/kpypACCINj— Akash Banerjee (@TheDeshBhakt) February 2, 2019
According to reports, Alpika has been staying with her parents since February 1, and she’s being pressurised by her in-laws to delete this Twitter thread about Dave. So, let’s hope this issue is resolved soon because if what Alpika is telling is true, then this is harassment of the highest order. And no matter what your political inclinations are, we’ve to agree that this country is no place for individuals who torture people for likes and retweets.
