Nothing can get a person more riled up than religion and if someone tries to make a public mockery of that religion and culture, they better be assured of some serious backlash coming towards them.
An advertisement by ‘Meat & Livestock Australia’ (MLA) faced the same from the Hindu community, when they released their ad featuring the Hindu God, Ganesha, eating lamb with various other Gods and Goddesses like Aphrodite and Jesus, in an effort to promote lamb.
The advertisement was dubbed ‘offensive and insensitive’ accompanied by a wave of comments from people whose sentiments were hurt because of the advertisement.
1.The timing could not be worse.
2. It was ignorant.
3. Sentiments were hurt.
4. A little research would have been good.
5. Guns ablazin’
6. Hmm…
7. This does not look good.
8. The anger was unleashed.
9. That may be the goal.
#BoycottLamb Respect for other's faith & culture is often ignored to create controversy & get a few minutes of fame.

10. Not having it.
#BoycottLamb deport the maker to where they came from 😋 creating hate amongst communities. Shame

However, many people also defended the ad saying that it was an attempt at promoting diversity irrespective of religion. However, the makers of the ad have released an official statement in an AdNews interview saying that it was not intended to hurt sentiments.
There is an appeal to ban the ad altogether. Time will tell whether the makers will try to make things right with the community or not.
