In a bizarre turn of events of blatant racism in the country, this girl’s story has taken the internet by the storm.
Monika Khangembam a Manipuri girl was stopped from boarding her plane at the IGI Airport, Delhi by an Immigration Officer because she didn’t look ‘Indian’ enough to him.
As a response, she put up a heartfelt facebook post which has stirred waters everywhere.
Yesterday, External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj  apologised to her on Twitter, and even though the Immigration office does not fall under her jurisdiction, she said she’ll take it up with Rajnath Singh for an officer sensitisation programme.
Ms. Swaraj has been a very active Twitter user and winning accolades from the online community for her prompt presence. This is what she tweeted.
Monika Khangembam – I am sorry to know this. Immigration is not with me./1

For all the people from the North-East who work and live in the mainland and face problems like these, we’re very sorry for the existence of the people like that Immigration Officer.
