7-YO Boy Living In Domestic Violence Shelter Asks Santa For A ‘Very Good Dad’ This Christmas

It’s just a couple of days left before the Christmas celebrations kick-start in full swing. Among those celebrating, some have even started giving their Christmas presents to their loved ones like this London zoo while others are busy preparing their list of gifts they expect from their secret Santa. But this 7-year-old boy’s letter to Santa Claus is quite disturbing and heartbreaking.

Blake has been living in a domestic violence shelter with his mother for about a month now. The shelter that is based at Tarrant County in Texas aims ‘to end domestic violence through safety, support, prevention and social change.’ A few weeks ago, his mother found a letter from Blake to Santa in his backpack.

The letter mentioned how nervous he was and didn’t want to talk to other kids at the shelter. Among the many things he asked from Santa, he also requested him to bring him a ‘very very very good dad’ for holidays, reported NBC News. The heartbreaking letter was shared by a nonprofit organization (SafeHaven of Tarrant County) that runs the shelter.

Blake is a 7-year-old boy in one of our shelters, and his mom found this letter to Santa in his backpack a few weeks…

Talking to sources, the vice president of SafeHaven Emily Hancock said that they have been sharing artwork by children in particular. “This one, we shared with some of our supporters before posting it on social media. It highlights a lot of the feelings a lot of our clients feel — not just children. Most people arrive at the shelters with little, but over time, after they work with their case managers, they feel more adjusted to their environment,” Hancock said.

The organisation, from time to time, organises events and programs in order to make the people in their shelter feel at home and enjoy the Christmas festivities and one such program was “Santa’s Sack”. They asked residents to donate gifts for the children which are then made available for mothers to shop for their kids for free.

“Thanks to the donations, Blake will get a large part of his Christmas request this holiday. This year we received more than 10,000 donated gifts, so rest assured that Blake is going to have everything he asked for and more for the holidays,” said Micah Thompson, the organization’s director of marketing to CBS News. “In the same program, we set up a store in the shelter where the kiddos can shop for their moms,” she added.

This is indeed the best way to celebrate the spirit of the festival, isn’t it?
