Divorces can be bitter and emotional for a couple. In today’s time, the stigma around being divorced has taken a back seat as people are more open to this option. In fact, a man divorced his wife of 7 years just so she could marry her lover and a woman left her husband just 3 minutes after marriage. People these days would rather break-up than be in an unhappy marriage.
It makes sense, doesn’t it? This is exactly why a teen mom divorced a guy after his parents disapproved of her. The woman was 16 when she gave birth to her daughter. She parted ways with the father when the baby turned two. Three years later, the guy, who had been a sincere and honest dad, apologized and asked the woman to get back together as his parents passed away. She declined his offer and chose to be friends with him instead.

I (27f) think my daughter (10f) might be parent-trapping me and her father (27m) pic.twitter.com/gEyfwVKpJr

Everything was going good until their 10-year-old daughter realized the reason for her parent’s break-up. She insisted that they get back together. But her mom explained to her that they were better off as friends. This is when the little girl supposedly started scheming to get her parents together. She even included a ‘baby sister’ on her Christmas wish list.
Her mother took to Reddit to share her suspicions about their daughter’s mischievous scheme. However, many people assured her it was not a parent trap:
There's no parent trapping here, just a 10 year old who wants her parents back together. Best to have a conversation regarding how much you both love her and that despite the way your relationship went, this is healthier in the long run. It'll take her time.

This is very normal but also heartbreaking. Good luck!

A child wanting her parents to be together is very very normal.
They can say, “Honey, I know you’d like to see us get back together. But we aren’t going to. I know this makes you sad, but it’s the way things are going to be. We love you.”

Wow. So shes clearly never seen parent trap. This isn’t some clever plan, daughter is directly stating her desire that her parents were together. I don’t expect teen parents to be able to have a direct mature conversation with the daughter, but that’s all that needs to happen

I don’t find this sweet, I find this normal behaviour for a child with two separated parents.
And yes, a ten year old can have something that they want so much that they work towards it. She is definitely parent trapping them.
How to stop it? Start saying no & stay separated.

It’s normal and kind of sweet. Just stick to your guns and continue to be kind but firm.

While others mentioned how a 10-year-old is capable of making such clever plans:
This must be the only 10 year old Mom knows. Kid is absolutely capable of parent trapping. 😂 Parents are gonna have to sit her down & have a confab. "Things happen, we both love you, we're not getting back together." Make it plain.

That part made me laugh this woman has clearly never met another 10 year old, they’re devious and clever as heck, their secret master plans may not be successful but they definitely have them lol

10 year olds can absolutely have secret plans and I hope this wholesomeness isn’t fake.

The OP should consider the possibility that the kid has seen the movie Parent Trap, which is widely known and still considered a classic Disney flick for preteens. 😂

The bad news is: she is definitely trying to parent trap you.
The good news is: this is outrageously normal, dare I say age-appropriate, ten-year-old shit.— Ms. Respex 💄🐱🌜 (@Respexy) December 31, 2019
Doesn’t this feel similar to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s storyline? What do you think, is the child innocent or is she trapping her parents? Tell us in the comments below.
