We’ve all dreamt of and imagined how much fun it would be travel to some unknown point or year in the distant future. Imagine travelling 44 years from now to see what the world would be like in 2059.

A New York man, Otis Johnson, recently re-entered society after being in prison for 44 years for the attempt of murder on a police inspector and it looks like nothing less than a Sci-Fi time-travel movie. This video by Al Jazeera English shows him experience the world outside and its changes after 44 years and it is saddening and full of wonderment to watch at the same time.

‘I had seen that everybody, or the majority of the people, was talking to themselves. Then I looked closer and they seemed to have things in their ears’, says a 69-year-old Otis who is having difficulty adjusting with the changes and is having a huge culture shock.

But what was the best part of this?
He teaches us all a lesson here and says, ‘You gotta let things go because holding on to anger will only stagnate your growth and development. I don’t feel that society owes me anything. Everything happens for a reason, I believe. So I let that go and deal with the future instead of dealing with the past. I try not to go backwards. I go forwards. And that’s how I survive in society.’
