Believe It Or Not, United Airlines Now Kicked A Couple Going To Their Wedding Off A Flight!

It has literally just been a week since United Airlines ‘hospitality‘ earned accolades across the world after videos of a doctor being dragged off their flight went viral.

After such a huge mistake, you’d think that they’d be extra careful in handling situations like these, at least till the dust settles. However, United seems to have not learnt any lesson from their mistake.

This time, a couple headed for their wedding ceremony in United’s flight 1737 from Houston, USA to Liberia, Costa Rica got kicked off the plane. The couple had booked economy seats and were the last to board the plane.

Amber Maxwell and Michael Hohl were headed to Costa Rica for their wedding on a United flight. However, when they reached their seats, ’24 B’ and ’24 C’, they found a man napping there. Instead of disturbing him, they moved a few rows ahead as the flight was half empty.

“We thought not a big deal, it’s not like we are trying to jump up into a first-class seat. We were simply in an economy row a few rows above our economy seat.”

According to the couple, they moved to seats ’21 B’ and ’21 C’, not knowing that United considers these seats as ‘Economy Plus’.

Soon, a flight attendant came and asked them to return to their assigned seats. When they explained the situation and asked for an upgrade, the attendant rejected. According to Hohl, even after they complied, a US Marshall (security officer) asked them to deboard.

“They said that we were being disorderly and a hazard to the rest of the flight, to the safety of the other customers.”

Unlike Dr Dao, the couple cooperated with the authorities and deboarded the plane.

Later, United issued a statement stating that the couple didn’t follow crew instructions. However, they booked seats for them on a flight next day.

“We’re disappointed anytime a customer has an experience that doesn’t measure up to their expectations. These passengers repeatedly attempted to sit in upgraded seating which they did not purchase and they would not follow crew instructions to return to their assigned seats. We’ve been in touch with them and have rebooked them on flights tomorrow.”

The airline might have booked another flight for them, but they have certainly lost Hohl’s business. The couple described the situation ‘strange’ and have decided to never fly with the airline in the future.

“I think customer service and the airlines has gone real downhill. The way United Airlines handled this was really absurd.”

Thankfully, the wedding is scheduled on Thursday and the couple will be there on time.

With both sides blaming the other, it is not quite sure who exactly is at fault here, the couple or the airline. However, considering that the airline booked seats for them later, the couple must not have been a ‘major threat’.

Seems like United Airlines purposely wants to lose customers now.
