Recently, all our Facebook timelines have been flooded with Sarahah posts and people going berserk over the whole trend. Sarahah has caught on like wildfire, therefore, we thought it was finally the time to know the creator behind the viral sensation.
ZainAlabdin Tawfiq, the Sarahah creator, is a Saudi National and judging from his interview, we can conclude that he has high hopes for the future of the anonymous feedback application. He reportedly created the application because he wanted people to have “honest” conversations with each other.
Tawfiq revealed that the app is not a short-lived project and it has a long way to go. In an exclusive interview with India Today, the techie talked about his motivation for creating the app, he said:
“When I graduated from college and joined corporate life I noticed that there is a need for constructive feedback. Since there are barriers (to communication) like position or age, the best thing is to have anonymous feedback.”
He is a computer scientist and in an attempt to automate this, he created Sarahah. Tawfiq also talked about how he shares an intimate relation with India and is quite proud that Indians have been using the app.
Sarahah might have been created with good intentions, but it has a few negative aspects as well, like the fact that it has been unintentionally promoting cyber-bullying. While Sarahah looks like a lot of other anonymous feedback applications, time will tell whether it fizzles out or becomes an even bigger platform.
