‘Dangal’ star Zaira Wasim saw the worst of cyber bullying and religious extremism when she met Mehbooba Mufti, the Chief Minister of her state. Not to mention the national stir her out-of-the-blue apology for the same caused, but further backlash and mixed reactions even forced the Kashmiri actress to delete her appeal not consider her as a ‘role model’.
And since then, Zaira has been in the eye of the controversies. True, many celebrities including Aamir Khan came out in her support but the rage has not faded yet. Her name was dragged into another unwanted thread, resulting into a Twitter spat!
It started when, Vijay Goel, Youth Affairs and Sports minister, tagged Zaira unto his tweet while he reflected on a picture with two girls; in hijab and cage respectively and adhered Zaira’s plight to the woman in the picture.
The minister was at an art gallery in Delhi to inaugurate the India Art Fest.
Zaira took notice and didn’t waste any time in pointing out to Goel ‘sir’ about her disagreement and that her situation was far away from the picture he tagged her on.Â
However, Goel later presented his share of explanation about the same, disregarding Zaira’s objection as a misunderstanding.Â
We sincerely wish, that sense prevails and the loathing comes to an end. She is still a 16-year-old!
