You can’t achieve success overnight, can you? It requires a lot of hard work, discipline, and dedication to reach your goals. Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s inspirational rags to riches tale is a classic example of that. The U-19 cricket player is the youngest to score a double century in List-A cricket.
However, it was not an easy journey for him. The 17-year-old lived in a tent and sold pani puris to make ends meet. There were times when he slept on a hungry stomach after a tiring workday. Nonetheless, all his hardships have finally paid off. The teenage sensation will play in the Indian Premier League for the first time, reports Times of India.
According to Sport Star, with a base price of Rs 20 lakh, Jaiswal initially attracted a bid from Mumbai Indians. Eventually, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royals bid back and forth for the cricketer. Finally, the Jaipur-based franchise won the bidding at a whopping sum of Rs 2.40 crore.
“I am very happy. It’s a great opportunity for me to learn. I want to learn as much as I can during my time with Rajasthan Royals. It is a platform for me to make a name for myself,” Jaiswal was quoted saying by Hindustan Times.
Jaiswal, who received a higher bid than his Under-19 captain Priyam Garg, celebrated his selection with his coach and family.
