The X-Men Get Crushed By An Overpowering Jean Grey In The Trailer For ‘Dark Phoenix’

Jean Grey’s Phoenix saga is a pretty vibrant and engaging part of the X-Men comics. So, it was natural for Fox to adapt it during the mutant team’s cinematic run. However, it didn’t go down well in ‘The Last Stand’. And just when it was looking like the franchise was taking a new turn with a fresh cast, they’ve probably done it again in ‘Dark Phoenix’.

After teasing Jean Grey’s Phoenix force in ‘Apocalypse’, the Simon Kinberg directed sequel shows her struggling with her powers and eventually embracing it. And the only thing that’s standing between her and the end of the world is the X-Men.

The trailer starts off with Sophie Turner’s Grey regretting something she has done and shifts to a dramatic sequence in space to show her becoming one with the Phoenix force. After that, we see the X-Men debate whether they should kill Jean Grey or not while dead bodies and destruction pile up. In addition to the original cast, ‘Dark Phoenix’ will also feature Jessica Chastain in a villainous role.

‘Dark Phoenix’ has all the telltale signs of redoing all the mistakes that ‘The Last Stand’ did. But since this is just a trailer, there’s a fair chance that the movie might surprise everyone with a great story and wholesome performances. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
