Woman’s Ears Chopped Off In Karnataka After She Fought With Her Neighbour Over Drinking Water

A brawl with neighbors over the stupidest things is a part and parcel of life! From parking issues to the ‘thunderfoot’ roof, we’ve all been there, yelling and howling at neighbors at least once in our life. But this spat over silly things might sometimes take a drastic turn when turned violent.

A similar case of a super fierce fight between the neighbors has been reported in Bangarpet, Kolar district of Karnataka. The villagers here procure drinking water from a nearby cistern with a rule of one person filling a maximum of 4 pots of water at a time. Indrani and Yashodamma were procuring water from the cistern when the fight began.

Yashodamma went on to fill 8 pots of water which outraged Indrani and she stopped her and tried to place her pots under the tap. Angry Yashodamma threw away the pots of Indrani and their verbal spat soon turned violent, reports TOI.

Yashodamma caught hold of Indrani’s ears and in turn, she held Yashodamma’s throat. Her husband soon intervened in the tussle and assaulted Indrani for holding his wife’s throat. Villagers pacified both the parties and calmed them down.

Things went normal for a couple of days between both the families. But on May 9, while Indrani was returning from her cattle shed, Yashodamma along with her family members namely, Shashi, Basavarajappa, Santosh, and Hosarayappa caught hold of her and chopped her ears off.

Hearing her cries Indrani’s husband, Raghupati, arrived at the spot saw his wife’s ears severely bleeding. He pelted stones at Yashodamma’s home. Her family stormed out and hit Ragupati on his nose causing injuries.

Indrani was taken to a nearby hospital but due to severe injuries, she was referred to SNR Hospital in Kolar. Doctors performed minor surgery to suture on both of her ears.

This is certainly an extreme case of silly neighborhood squabble gone wrong! We hope the proper investigation is carried out to bring justice soon.
