This Guy’s Post On Treating Your Love With Respect After Marriage Makes A Powerful Point

When we get comfortable in our marriages, many times, we start to take our significant other for granted. We forget to be chivalrous. We disregard common courtesy. And often, our partner doesn’t really mind it. Once they are equally comfortable in the relationship, they too may stop caring for courtesy.

Dale Partridge is quick to point out, though, that your marriage is actually setting an example for your own sons and daughters to follow.

Here’s what he has to say:

“Somehow I forgot how to be a gentleman. As we get comfortable in our marriages, we forget to open her door, pull out her chair, and to put my wife’s comfort before my own. The worst part about it is I forgot the little eyes that are watching. Fathers, we must not only be the example of a good man for the sake of our wives but for our daughters, too. To set the expectations so high that when it comes time to open her heart to someone else, she won’t give him anything, until they give her everything.”

We must stop taking our significant other for granted. We must not forget common courtesy and chivalry. Keep in mind, the way you treat your partner will be setting a standard for your daughter to follow when she’s with her own S.O.

Certainly something for each one of us to follow.
