We grew up believing in this idea of “forever” when it came to love. Two people were supposed to meet magically, fall in love and spend the rest of their lives together. We grew up seeing a lot of people spending their lives together who probably met when they were very young and made it work through thick and thin. However, our generation is seeing several couples parting ways after being together for a solid 10-15 years.
You will hear a lot of couples, who parted ways, say that they drifted away because they grew up to become different people who wanted different things from life, that being together made no sense anymore or didn’t make them happy. A lot of women who are in their 30s are talking about relationships ending after 10 years.
One user took to r/AskWomenOver30 to ask, “We have all heard of the 7 year itch but my gosh, a lot of posts on here are from people who have been with their partner for 10 to 15 years and ask if they should leave or not for one reason or another. Has the 7 year itch now become the 10 year? Can anyone be together for decades?”
Several women came up with their own explanations as to why this is happening. Here’s a look at some of them:
People grow up to become different individuals.
