Vivek Oberoi Posts ‘Distasteful’ Meme On India’s WC Loss, Gets Slammed On Twitter

Indian fans are still in the process of getting over the loss in the World Cup semi-finals against New Zealand. However, most fans still appreciate the efforts and the sportsmanship that Team India displayed in their games. And that is why, seemingly, it’s too soon joke about this. And this was a lesson that Vivek Oberoi had to learn the hard way.

On July 12th, actor Vivek Oberoi took to Twitter, and posted a meme commenting on the status of Indian fans’ after India’s re-match with New Zealand on July 10th. The meme was a video of a practical gag, where a girl appears to be approaching the guy in the blue t-shirt for a hug, but instead hugs the man right behind him. Upon realization, the guy walks away with an awkward smile. Oberoi wrote, “This is what happened to Indian fans in the #WC semi finals!”

Clearly, Indian cricket fans took this joke in bad taste and their replies started flooding in.

However, some people saw the post as merely entertaining and in light humor. They requested others to see it the same way.

Off late, Vivek Oberoi has been sharing posts on social media that irked the masses, eventually leading to him apologizing. Do you find the meme funny, or is it receiving undue flak? What do you think?
