Virat’s Message To His Late Father On Father’s Day Showed The Tough Guy’s Softer Side

It was Father’s day yesterday and the social network didn’t feel shy to express their love for their fathers. Amidst all the updates, there was one that, perhaps, had been the most touching and it just made it real – Virat Kohli’s message to his father.

On, December 19, 2006, Prem Kohli, Virat’s father, passed away leaving the teenager distraught. However, Virat bounced back to the field with an unbeaten 90 runs giving the world a hint of the legend that was to follow.

It was his valiant knock that helped Delhi save the follow-on against Karnataka and the world couldn’t be more awestruck at the indomitable spirit of a young Virat.

 

“I still remember the night my father passed away as it was the hardest time in my life. But the call to play the morning after my father’s death came instinctively to me. For me, not completing a cricket game was equivalent to committing a sin. Importance that cricket holds in my life is above everything else,” recalled Virat years later to an interview to CNN.
