Aussie Network Groups Kohli With Animals To Choose Villian Of The Week And Gets Thrashed

When it comes to cricket, the rivalry between India and Australia is as strong as the one we have with our north-western neighbours. From the 2008 ‘monkeygate incident’ to the very recent ‘brain fade’ fiasco, an India-Australia series always comes loaded with action, drama, suspense and controversies.

After the Bengaluru incident, skipper Virat Kohli lashed out against his Australian counterpart, Steven Smith for his ‘innocent mistake’. The matter turned ugly when even the BCCI and Cricket Australia came face to face, taking sides of their respective players.

However, the two parties later called a truce after a meeting between the officials and decided to focus on the next game at Ranchi.

But as it turned out, the Australian media is not as mature and responsible as their cricket board.

FOX Sports Australia, a sports network of the ‘kangaroos’, conducted a poll on their Facebook page yesterday. Titled ‘Vettel (villain) of the week’, the poll listed Virat Kohli among animals like a panda, a puppy and a kitten.

As the puppy, the kitten and the panda are among internet’s favourite animals (also, look at the pictures they have used), it was obvious that people would choose Virat as the ‘villain’ here.

The poll got its name from renowned Formula-1 driver Sebastian Vettel, who in 2013 snatched the pole position from an Australian racer, Mark Weber. The network labelled Vettel as a villain and has since continued the tradition.

The cheap stunt to get some social media attention by the network failed miserably as they got thrashed left, right and centre. Here are some comments.

1. ‘Pathetic’ is the word

2. That’s King Kohli for you

3. In fact, the exact opposite happened

4. Spot on!

5. Asking the real question here

The Aussies should understand that Virat Kohli is the ‘undisputed KING’ of world cricket. They might have been undefeatable once but that time is long gone. Cheap gimmicks like these will only make our captain and the Indian team stronger on the field.

P.S- Kangaroo curry is for dinner at Ranchi and Dharamsala next.
