Smoker Vs Non-Smoker Lungs Demo Video Goes Viral, You’ll Quit Cigarettes After Watching

How many times have you gotten annoyed at or made fun of the anti-smoking ads that pop up before every movie? I’m guessing, pretty much every time. “We’ve seen this enough”, “we know”, “can we just get on with the movie already” etc are our reactions to these ‘pesky’ ads. It has pretty much become a running joke.

However, all jokes aside, we often fail to take notice of the actual message behind them. Well not anymore.

North Carolina-based nurse Amanda Eller, posted a couple of videos on Facebook that show the stark difference between a pair of black coloured cancer-ridden lungs and a healthy pair.

Her post which shows the drastic difference in the way both lungs inflate and deflate is captioned with this poignant question:

“Cancerous, 1 pack per day for 20 years lungs versus Healthy lungs. Still wanna smoke?”

Watch the video of the cancerous lungs here. FYI viewer discretion is adviced.

Amanda points out how the cancerous lungs have lost their elasticity resulting in them snapping back to deflated shape with a recoil as the air goes out.

The healthy pair, on the other hand, makes a more gradual recovery with exhalation:

Since being posted last week, both videos collectively gathered more than 4 crore views. We will also be celebrating the annual World No Tobacco Day at the end of this month on the 31st of May.

If you are someone who has been struggling with kicking the bucket on this habit, these videos should act as more than enough incentive to do it today. And if you are someone who has been thinking of taking it up because “it’s cool”, just don’t do it. You don’t want to end up in a hospital bed later with charcoal black lungs that can’t do their job.
