Varanasi Indie Dog Set To Go To Netherlands, Gets Adopted By Tourist Who Fell In Love With Her

Meral Bontenbel, a woman from the Netherlands, had come to Varanasi as a tourist to explore the city. One day, while she along with a few fellow travellers were strolling in the city, she met an Indie dog named Jaya who soon became their companion while they did their explorations. Meral instantly fell in love with the dog and decided to adopt her.

With the help of an NGO named Animotel, Meral was able to get a companion animal passport for Jaya, get her vaccinated and prepare all the necessary documents for the dog to be able to go to the Netherlands.

In multiple videos shared by various media outlets, we see how friendly and loving Jaya is, excitedly asking for rubs and a lot of love from everyone she meets. We also get to see how fond the dog is of Meral, as she continues to follow her everywhere. They two are definitely made for each other.

From the streets of Varanasi, Jaya will now be able to stroll the streets of the Netherlands. The entire process of getting the paperwork ready took 6 months, but the wait was worth it in the end.

Here’s a video capturing Meral and Jaya’s journey:

We hope that Jaya is able to experience a much better life in the Netherlands! 🙂
