Pooja To Snigdha, 14 Out Of 15 Players In USA Women’s U-19 World Cup Team Are Of Indian Origin

When you look at the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams, you know they are ‘your’ people. Their facial structures are familiar. You wouldn’t look at England’s cricket team and call them Indian, would you? Now, why am I asking such a stupid question? Here’s why.

For the upcoming ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, the USA released a poster for its national team. There were pictures of 15 female players. 14 of them are of Indian origin. The entire poster looks as if it’s of team India.

Besides Jivana Aras, who is of Asian origin, the rest of the players don’t just look Indian, but have Indian names as well! Ritu Singh, Taranum Chopra, Snigdha Paul, Pooja Ganesh, Disha Dhingra – don’t these names sound ultra familiar? 😛

There’s not a single ‘Susan’ or ‘Ashley’ or ‘Karen’!

Several people were left amused by team USA. Many asked, “Where are the Americans?”, and said that the team is filled with Indians. Have a look:

Did they, by mistake, share team India’s picture? 😀
