13 Cuts And ‘A’ Certificate. Udta Punjab Finally Gets Cleared By Censor Board!

Udta Punjab might have faced the worst phase in the last couple of days, thanks to the cuts imposed by Pahlaj Nihalani.

And now, the CBFC chief, Pahlaj Nihalani has commented that the film has been cleared with just 13 cuts instead of the 89 cuts and it has been issued an ‘A’ certificate.

Addressing the crowd in Bhopal, Mr. Nihalani said the following:

We have today cleared Udta Punjab under A (restricted for the adult audience) category after 13 cuts.

Nine other members of the Censor Board watched the movie and cleared it with just 13 cuts.

As opposed to Mr. Nihalani’s cuts, the other members had this to propose.

He further added, “The CBFCs job is now over. It is now up to the producer to go to the court or tribunal. We will implement the order.

This entire thing pushed Mr. Pahlaj to the limelight, but for bad reasons. There were reports that the Censor Board has asked to remove “Punjab” from the title, which were apparently false.

After facing a deluge of criticism regarding this, Pahlaj Nihalani finally clarified that there is no truth to this.

Today, the film has been passed with ‘A’ certificate. The claim of the producer to remove the title of the film by the board is false. We never asked for its removal. But he said so in front of the media to gain publicity. All these reports are false.

As much as this news made us beam with happiness, we eagerly await the Bombay High Court verdict which would be out today.

Phantom Films had sought Bombay High Court’s approval for the movie.

Well, after following a lot of obstacles, Udta Punjab is finally seeing the light at the end of the dark tunnel.

Which is good news! 😀
