Abhay Deol probably didn’t know that his outrage on fairness creams will spark a furore in the entertainment industry when he made the remark a couple days back. After he thrashed every celebrity who endorses fairness products, Sonam Kapoor tried to diss him but got brutally trolled instead.
Seems like Uday Chopra was not paying heed to the ‘Sonam-trolling’ as he tried joining the bandwagon today. Sadly for him, the result remained the same.
Calling use of fairness creams ‘personal choice’, Uday Chopra said that if fairness creams are racist, so is hair colour.
Adding to his thoughts on fairness creams, he further said that ‘use it if you need to’.
Clearly, his remarks didn’t go really well with the Twitterverse as people immediately started trolling him left. right and centre.
1. Ah, nepotism, haven’t heard the word in a long time
Look at what nepotism breeds. Tsk tsk. pic.twitter.com/Dgp0cEYIg3

3. Then there is this chat
Mr. Chopra fairness creams say people who have white skin are only beautiful or handsom. So is it not racist ??

it’s a self esteem issue, got nothing to do with racism. Why is the lighting of hair color not a race issue then?
— Uday Chopra (@udaychopra) April 14, 2017
Have you seen any one saying oh your hair is black so dont come near me, but same happens when a person is dark skinned.
— Sunil Singh (@s200sunil) April 14, 2017
I agree , but issue is not the fairness cream but the way they are advertised.

"Hair color is race related"??

I have a feeling that this debate is not ending very soon. Seems like Abhay Deol has opened a can of worms.
