How 20’s Is A Confused Decade Filled With Overwhelming Life Choices!

Sure, life is difficult for people of all ages, even babies have problems which seem mammoth to them. But as a 20 something myself, I would be glorifying the struggles of our age because let’s face it, it is abundantly difficult to make a choice each day between having fun and studying that wee little hard for your future!

We are constantly torn between our present and the future, and then there all these contradicting quotes making their way to our minds like “sometimes, it’s better to bunk a class and enjoy with friends, because now, when I look back, marks never make me laugh, but memories do” and “if you want to be successful you have to be willing to disappear for a while.” If we were smart enough to know what to believe in, life would have been sorted and you wouldn’t be reading this!

This age range of 20-30 years is really full of struggle and it is also very dreamy. It is so difficult to attain that perfect balance between being a realist and an idealist. We want to change the world with all that fire inside us and we think that nothing is impossible until faced with the harsh reality. We study so that we can get a well-paying job+ our dream job (which is a pretty ideal combination) but there is so much unemployment around that some of us end up doing what we don’t like. There are also these beautiful dreams of having our own home, finding true love, travelling to the most exotic of places and the list will go on unless told to stop dreaming! We want to succeed quickly, but we also want to be working for the right cause and then there are our dreams!

The major problem is, we are expected to find that perfect job, that perfect partner, that perfect home in that limited time frame of 10 years! Why the hurry? By the time we get settled in our lives, we are expected to start a family, why?

There will always be a time when we have to choose between our studies/our work and going on that spontaneous trip with friends. And it is so frustrating. Whatever we choose will never be good enough. Even if we decide to sit back and study, our mind would be halfway across the globe or if we decide to go on that trip, we would feel freaking guilty the entire trip about missing studies and bam, we cannot find happiness in any choice that we make. Well, the last time I checked it was pretty non-guilty to have fun, welcome to the ADULT LIFE!

The 20’s are also the years where we discover our true self. We go through so many different emotions and when we finally emerge victorious from this challenging period we feel all the more proud of ourselves. We are all on that journey to make something beautiful of ourselves, to be able to do good and to be able to be remembered.

The twenties are like a confused decade. We are neither old enough to get everything in place nor are we young enough to get away with silly excuses. These are the years where we would be compared to the ‘Sharmaji ka beta/beti’, who have everything set for themselves. These would also be the years when our adrenaline will shoot because life is just so challenging, but you are also bound to miss that feeling of thrill when you are finally settled.

Something’s in life take time because they would be better later. We all have an unknown future ahead of us, and I know that millions of us are going through the same struggle every day, but we have to tell ourselves that eventually, things will fall into their right place and it will make sense. As of now, sit back and let life unravel itself at its own sweet pace! Because sometimes having no plan is the best plan!
