Ban on Instant Noodles Continues. After Maggi, Top Ramen Noodles To Be Banned

Maggi being banned is old news. After that, all the brands have been on target one after the other. The Food Safety Regulatory has been conducting tests on instant noodles’ food samples. Recently, Hindustan Lever’s Knorr instant noodles were also deemed unfit for consumption.

‘Top Ramen’, another famous noodles brand by Indo Nissin, was withdrawn from the market on Monday.

It was withdrawn on the orders of central food safety regulator FSSAI. After Maggi, FSSAI has been doing product testing of all instant noodles brands. “At that time we had sought clarification from FSSAI since Top Ramen product approval is pending with the regulator. They have requested us to withdraw the product until they give the product approval,” said Gautam Sharma, managing director of Indo Nissin Foods. He added that this brand of noodles was tested extensively over the last few weeks.

Indo Nissan is meeting state FDAs to re-check the results and may seek a re-test.

“We have tested at two FSSAI accredited independent laboratories and shared the results with FSSAI a few weeks ago. While many Top Ramen samples have been tested by various state FDAs across India, only in two cases – slightly higher lead level has been found in the tastemaker,” said the managing director.

Many Instant noodles, pasta, and macaroni brands have been on the radar and will be tested by the FDAs to ensure health safety as these brands are purchased by the public on a large scale.

Seems like, after Maggi, FDAs are skeptical about the food quality of these famous brands.
